I love organizing kitchens because they are used for so many different activities throughout the day. Cooking, baking, cleaning, meal prep, packing lunches, grabbing snacks, entertaining guests—the kitchen is often the heart of the home. When it’s set up well, everything becomes easier. When it’s not, even simple tasks can feel frustrating.
My goal when organizing a kitchen is to create a space that is efficient, functional, and easy to maintain. I want my clients spending less time searching for items and more time enjoying their homes and families.
Here are some of the strategies I use in my own kitchen and with my kitchen organization clients throughout Omaha, Elkhorn, Papillion, Gretna, Bennington, and the surrounding areas.
One of the biggest mistakes I see is storing items wherever there happens to be space instead of where they are actually used.
I like to create dedicated zones that support daily routines.
Items used while cooking should be located near the stove and oven whenever possible.
In my kitchen, I keep:
When everything is within reach, cooking becomes faster and more enjoyable because you’re not constantly walking across the kitchen searching for what you need.

The dishwasher, sink, and everyday dishes should work together.
I keep:
Putting dishes away takes less time because everything has a logical home.
One of my favorite kitchen zones is our beverage station.
We have a coffee machine and espresso machine in one dedicated area. Above it, I store everything needed for drinks, including:
Whether someone wants coffee before work or tea in the evening, everything is conveniently located in one place.

Many people struggle with baking storage, especially when it comes to using Lazy Susans effectively.
One solution I’ve found successful is using a Lazy Susan for baking ingredients. Flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla, and other essentials stay together in one easy-to-access location.
I don’t bake every day, but when I do, everything is organized and ready to go.
Another game changer is a KitchenAid mixer lift or appliance riser. I’ve seen countless heavy mixers stored:
The result? People stop using them. A mixer lift allows the KitchenAid to stay stored neatly while remaining easily accessible. If you love baking, this upgrade can completely transform how often you use your mixer.
If you’re considering adding one, I can even help coordinate solutions during your kitchen organizing project.
Not everything needs prime real estate.
For example, I have an entertaining zone for serving pieces and hosting supplies. Since I don’t entertain every day, those items don’t need to be located near the dishwasher or in my most accessible cabinets. Similarly, my fine china and special entertaining pieces are stored in the dining room because they’re used less often.
Daily-use items should always get the easiest-to-reach spaces.
A functional pantry should support the people who use it every day.
As a mom of three, I organize our pantry so the items my family uses most are easy to access. Frequently used snacks, breakfast items, and pantry staples are kept within reach.
When organizing a pantry, I always encourage clients to think about:
The answers help create systems that actually work long-term.
I’ve worked with many Omaha-area homeowners who felt overwhelmed by their kitchens. Some had recently moved and weren’t sure how to set up the space. Others had lived in their homes for years but never found an organizational system that worked.
The difference after a kitchen reset can be incredible.
When your kitchen is organized around your routines, everyday tasks become easier, meal prep feels less stressful, and maintaining order becomes much more manageable.
If your kitchen feels cluttered, inefficient, or overwhelming, I’d love to help.
